Saltwater Coast Lifestyle Centre Update
Dear Members,
As the Saltwater Coast Lifestyle Centre Access and Booking System transition is such an important step for the community, we wanted to provide some further information to you.
BIOMETRIC ACCESS SYSTEM
Background
The Owners Corporation committee and Centre Management team have experienced security issues at the Saltwater Coast Lifestyle Centre since at least 2017. Unauthorised access has been a concern, and the committee since 2017 had been working on a solution.
After years of developing specifications, gathered quotes, and conducted research on access systems, in 2020 the committee decided to implement a new biometric security access system. However, the project was delayed due to COVID and other factors. Now, with the help of the Quantum CM Solutions team, we're ready to address these concerns and finalise the execution the long-standing project to completion.
Installing a biometric access system in the lifestyle centre facility will provide a number of advantages for the community, including:
1. Enhanced Security: Biometric systems offer a high level of security as they are difficult to forge, share or misuse credentials. This helps to ensure that only those with legitimate access are using the facility, prevents unauthorised access and safeguards the facility, its assets, and the well-being of its patrons. The presence of a biometric access system can act as a deterrent, discouraging individuals with ill intent from attempting unauthorised access into the centre.
2. Access Control: Biometric systems can control access to specific areas within the facility, ensuring that only authorised individuals can enter certain zones, such as members-only areas, staff areas, or restricted sections.
3.Reduced Administrative Overhead: Biometric systems can reduce administrative tasks related to managing physical access, such as issuing access cards or fobs and dealing with lost cards. This can lead to cost savings and improved operational efficiency.
4. Improved User Experience: For members, biometric systems can offer a seamless and convenient access experience. They don't need to carry physical cards or fobs, making it easier to access facility. Biometrics can validate the identity of members, ensuring that only registered and fees-paying members can access the facility.
5. Compliance and Future-proofing: Biometric systems can provide detailed access logs and reports, which can be useful for compliance with regulations, monitoring facility usage, and investigating security incidents. These systems are typically technologically advanced and can adapt to evolving security needs and emerging threats.
If any members are concerned about using the biometric system, they can purchase a new Fob at a cost of $50 (inc. GST) per Fob or reactivate their existing Fob at no cost, by submitting a Fob Request Access Form via the Centre Management Team. If members are experiencing issues scanning their fingerprint with the biometric system, a new Fob will be provided at no cost.
Booking and Check-in System
Background
The implementation of a booking system in the centre is a decision made by the committee to enhance safety, fairness, and the overall experience of members and visitors and is supported by the majority of the committee. It ensures efficient resource allocation, compliance with regulations, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
The committee, mindful of their duties and obligations implemented the booking system based on the following:
1. Capacity Management: A primary concern is to efficiently manage the capacity of the facility. This is essential to ensure that everyone can enjoy their time here. Without a proper capacity management system, we might face situations where certain areas need to be temporarily closed due to overcrowding. This can be inconvenient for all of us, and we want to prevent such inconveniences.
2. Safety: Safety is paramount. Especially on hot days, overcrowding can pose risks and challenges. We have encountered pool safety issues in the past, and by implementing a booking system, we aim to mitigate these risks and provide a secure environment for everyone. It's about creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere where you can enjoy your facility.
3. Gym Crowds: The gym, being a popular spot, often gets crowded during peak hours. This can make it difficult for members to have a productive and enjoyable workout. The booking system is a solution to this challenge, ensuring that you can access the gym without the frustration of overcrowding.
4. Fairness: We value fairness in facility usage. In the past, some residents monopolized certain amenities, such as the pool, for extended periods, leaving others with limited access. With the booking system in place, we can promote equitable use of these amenities. Now, everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the pool, ensuring a fair and enjoyable experience for all.
5. Compliance: Your facility operates under specific permits and regulations. These regulations outline the maximum number of people allowed in different areas for safety and fire compliance. By scheduling appointments through the booking system, we ensure that we adhere to these limits. This not only keeps the owners corporation in compliance with legal requirements but also maintains a safe and controlled environment for everyone.
We understand the concerns raised by some residents. The Saltwater community has grown significantly over the past few years, and managing your facility well is vital for reliability, fairness, and safety. Members should note, whilst we recommend that all members pre-book to ensure you secure your spot, it is not compulsory to pre-book to use the Gym, Pool, Fitness Classes, Tennis Courts.
Members are able to walk into the centre and check-in at the counter. However, please be advised that if you do walk in to the centre and check-in at the counter, this will not guarantee access to your preferred activity; it only happens if there's an available spot at the time.
In regard to the Function Room, members must pre-book and confirm availability to use.
Regards,
The Quantum Team
